Snow meditation.
The labyrinth sleeps under a blanket of snow, the waves remind us that it is there. Venus shines above. I took this photo after a sunset ski, the sky cleared and I was able to see the line of planets reveal themselves one planet at a time.
I took this photo of the sanctuary back in December when we still had sun. Looking at it today makes me realize just how grey the days have been lately. The sanctuary looks much the same. Snow on snow.
Imagine opening the door and stepping inside, ready for a sound reiki appointment. Come on in, enjoy the warmth of the wood stove. Take off your boots and coat and have a seat. Warm up with a cup of medicinal herbal tea. Lately I’ve been serving nettle tea, the earthy taste reminds us that spring will come.
At the beginning of a sound reiki session I like to tune us in so that we can be present in time and space. To be present in time we let go of all our thoughts of the past and all our ideas about the future. They slide away and here we are. Now.
To bring us into our present space I often use our Saugeen Watershed. I feel a great love and connection to our watershed so not only does it help to bring us into present space, it infuses the meditation with love.
Saugeen means the place where the river empties into the lake. Crick means the place where the stream reaches the sea. These meeting places are rich with a diversity of life.
Imagine Lake Huron. Sand. Waves. Sky. Perhaps even memories of swimming underwater with eyes open.
The wind passes over the lake and as it does it picks up water. The water, the lake, is in the sky.
The winds blow the moisture and it reaches our farm. In the warmer months the moisture falls as rain. Now in the winter the wind comes as squalls and we have snow.
The image that has been so striking for me these past months is that of waves. Waves of snow on the fields. Drifts and waves of snow coming right up to the house making me feel like I am swimming in Lake Huron with my eyes open.
So here we are. Now. In the sanctuary with the warm fire surrounded by waves of snow and drinking nettle tea.
I would love for you to join me here, to bring this meditation into your body. Whatever it is that your bring - anxiety, illness, confusion - we can let that go. We sooth the body, soul and spirit with the warm touch of healing reiki and resonant sounds of instrument and voice.

Sound Bath
I am delighted to help Surya with her sound bath this Friday January 31. To her amazing collection of instruments I will add the cello and voice. The deep resonance of the cello blends so beautifully with the frosted crystal singing bowls and the beat of the frame drum. The button below takes you to Surya’s web page where you can register and find the location.
From Surya’s newsletter: “If you feel called to come out of the snow and into the warmth of a Sound Bath, we will be focusing on the theme of self care and self kindness. This Sound Bath is an invitation to pause, breathe, and listen to the inner longings of rest and pause. There will be one sitting for the Sound Bath this month from 4:30pm-5:45pm.”
I hope you have enjoyed this new moon newsletter!
Beautifully written and so much snow! I love the waves of the labyrinth.
