Crickhollow Newsletter
Welcome to the second newsletter! I am following the rhythm of the moon for publishing and have set a goal to publish the day before every new moon. Today as I write, it is International Women’s Day. By following the rhythm of the moon to accomplish tasks we can feel in to a more feminine way of being. We can experience the divine feminine directly each time we look up at the moon. The moon is also a visual way to track our progress during the month.
Farm Update
The new moon is a good time to make intentions. Now that it is spring, we have quite a few intentions for the farm.
Prune the fruit trees.
Landscape around the Reiki Cottage
Continue conversations with our new farmer for the pasture. It is important to us that our farm remain biodynamic and having animals is a big part of encouraging the farm to be its own individuality.
Garden for the fun of it! Now that I am no longer market gardening I am enjoying gardening for pleasure. This is Rebecca. She signed up for the Reiki One course and I learned that she loves plants and lives in an apartment in town. I asked if she wanted to garden with me for fun and she loved the idea. She is standing beside the grapevine we pruned.
Concerts and Events at Crickhollow
Over ten years ago Bruce Parsons made a labyrinth on our farm. It was very beautiful and a joy to walk. The grass here grows so vigorously that I was not able to keep up with it and the labyrinth grew in. We did keep the space. When we had the pasture fence put in we made sure it went around the space and we planted heart nut trees in a circle around where the labyrinth was.
Bruce has agreed to remake the labyrinth! I will send out details next newsletter but for now mark May 4th in your calendar if you would like to come out and lend a hand and learn about labyrinths. This time we will lay it out in a way that makes it easy to mow.
This is an art exhibition that Bruce had. I have also included the video as a short introduction to labyrinths. I visited Findhorn in 2019 and feel grateful for my experience there every day.
Energy Work
People often ask me “what is reiki?” I found this article from the CBC helpful. I hope the link works, I’m still learning how to use this platform!
Can Reiki be a legitimate treatment if no one can prove how it works? | CBC Radio
My answer to “what is reiki” changes as my experience of reiki deepens. Sometimes reiki is simply taking some time to yourself to rest. During a treatment you can enter a very peaceful place somewhere between waking and sleeping and in this space your body is free to heal itself. We can visualize internal processes loosening, flowing, and repairing in the same way that we can watch a cut heal.
When we learn reiki we can use it in daily life as we care for ourselves and our loved ones. During reiki training the student receives a beautiful attunement that opens them up to universal energy. Instead of tiring ourselves by pushing and using our own resources we can effortlessly tune in to universal energy and not only care for our loved ones but care for ourselves as well.
Reiki can also be a beginning or continuation of a spiritual path. We learn about meditation, our chakras, and the history of this healing path. There is one spot left in the upcoming class if you would like to join us! Feel free to email me rosemary@crickhollow.ca if you have any questions or would just like to say hi!
Thanks for reading this newsletter, I hope you enjoyed it!
